Someone very clever once said, “They won’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”  

Did requiring them to clean up after themselves make me less of a good mother? NO!!!

I’m the kind of parent who wants my rangatahi to feel cared for – that my words aren’t just lip service – and I know it’s what I do is as equally important as the words I say. 

With awareness comes knowledge. And with knowledge and experience comes wisdom. Don’t we all want that for our rangatahi?

Conflict management isn’t a strength for many people because it’s not something we’ve been actively taught to do or seen modeled for us when we were growing up

Especially when it comes to social media access, you and your rangatahi can be poles apart. You have one idea, your teens have another idea. And it’s pretty hard to see how and where they’ll fit together, or even where a mutual starting place is.
