Lockdown has brought life into stark relief.  We’re not as physically busy as we used to be. Which leaves us with more time to think. And to become aware.

And awareness is great. It’s a giant step forward. Awareness brings change … eventually.

We can see what we want to be different from what we have now.

And then we feel stuck. Stuck where we are now. We are not where we want to be. Feeling stuck is yuck.

Stuck puts us in jail.

We get into our heads – the self-talk about why we’re not where we want to be and the questioning about how we’re going to get where we want to be.

It’s not helping people! We’re just digging the hole we are stuck in so much deeper.

When you are stuck do this:

  1.  Be grateful for the awareness of being stuck.
  2. Do something different.

It’s that simple.

And something different doesn’t have to be big, or expensive, or take lots of time.

Something different is just that, something different. If you brush your teeth with your right hand, do it with your left hand.

If you wake up and open the curtains first, say “Thank” as your first foot hits the ground, and “You” as your second foot hits the ground, then open the curtains.

If you wash your hands then walk away from the basin, stop and look at yourself in the mirror.  Pause and tell yourself, “I love you.”

Whatever it is, try something different. Mix it up. And move out of the rut.

If you want things to be different, you have to be different first.

I say, “Fuck the stuck” and I mean it.  Life is too short to waste it on stuck.
